Intake Gateway answers your firm’s line when you can’t, takes a call about a DUI arrest once you switch criminal defense on, and emails you the facts after every call except one we are confident is spam.
Check the AI’s work: each intake email gives its summary and what the caller told it, and the call’s recording and full transcript are in your dashboard. AI intake and the ethics rules
Call the number we give you from your own phone and hear the agent take an intake — up to 15 minutes of test calls, before you add a card. First month free: a 30-day free trial, every answered call included, one trial per firm. Card on file, nothing charged before day 31. No setup fee. Month to month. US firms, calls in English and — if you switch it on — Spanish.
Start with nights and weekends. Forward your line only after hours, only the calls you don’t answer, or every call — a choice you make with your phone carrier or phone system, not a setting here, and can change at any time.
Hear our agent take a criminal-defense intake on the demo line, 27 seconds
Recorded on our demo line: our AI agent answering an automated test caller who plays an invented person. It starts after the opening disclosure every call begins with.
From the recording:
Caller (invented)
My brother was arrested last night in Milwaukee, around midnight, after a traffic stop. He’s still in county jail, and his first court date is early tomorrow morning, so I’m really worried.
Agent
That sounds like a very stressful situation. Just to make sure I get you to the right person -- is this about an injury?
Caller (invented)
No, it’s not an injury. He was arrested for operating while intoxicated.

The charge, the court date and the license, never the night itself.
A DUI call is part of the criminal defense intake, which is off until you switch it on. Off, someone calling about a DUI leaves a message for you.
On, it takes the call from the driver or from someone calling for them, such as a son, a partner or a friend, and asks whether they already have a lawyer on this, other than a public defender.
It takes the charge in the caller’s own words, such as “they said DUI”, and never corrects or explains it.
For a DUI it asks whether the driver’s license was taken, or a paper license given.
It also asks whether the driver is in custody right now and where, the date, city and state of the arrest, and the next court date and which court.
It never asks what the driver did, said or drank, or whether they did it, and keeps anything the caller says about it out of the intake.
Someone hurt by a drunk driver is never taken this way: they get the injury intake.
In Spanish, “lo arrestaron por manejar tomado” is taken the same way.
A driver held right now, or with a court date today, tomorrow or the day after, is urgent: within the firm's transfer hours the caller is offered a live transfer.
A DUI that is not urgent closes like any other case: a callback promised, or with a calendar connected a consultation booked or requested.
It never says what a DUI carries, whether the driver will be released, what bail will be, whether to talk to the police or plead, or any deadline.
A generic AI receptionist takes a message. This one runs your intake.
1
A callback promised, or a consultation booked or requested
Every routine caller is told the office will call them back, and gives the time that suits them. Connect a calendar and the agent books an ordinary case's consultation instead, from your real availability, while the caller is still on the phone, or requests one where your calendar asks you to confirm.
2
You hear every call
The recording, the transcript, a summary and the structured intake for every call are in your dashboard. Download what you need for your file: the recording, transcript, summary and intake are removed on a fixed schedule measured from each call.
3
The caller lands in Clio, if you use Clio
Connect Clio and the caller is added there as a contact after the call — name, phone, email and address, nothing re-typed. The full intake arrives by email and in your dashboard, with Clio or without — the product works either way.
One plan, $149 a month, every answered call included. Fair use is a guide of up to 100 answered calls a month for one firm’s own line, not a cap: nothing meters your calls or cuts them off at that number. If you are consistently and substantially above it, we may get in touch to agree terms that fit that volume, and if we cannot agree any, the Terms of Service let either side end the plan.
